Teacher Appreciation Week 2015

Sending flowers or a gift card is a great way to thank your child’s teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week. At Feazel Inc. we can sometimes think a little bigger. Last fall, we put a new roof on the

Cincinnati Early Learning Center, Harrison, which was facing a decision to cut back on programming for their preschool children, or ignore a dire roof repair problem.

“We had some small leaks,” said April Mueller, Director of the Cincinnati Early Learning Center, Harrison. “Roofs are supposed to last, what, 20 years? It was well beyond that; well beyond needing to be replaced.”

“But financially, being a nonprofit, we were like, ‘We can get one more year, we can get one more year.’ And then Feazel came along and it all worked out,” she said.

Mueller said the cost of replacing the roof and gutters would have been the equivalent of nearly two entire teacher salaries for the year.

“Without having that expense of that roof, it really took off the stress,” she said. “We’ve been able to take that money and apply it to programming, and classroom materials, and we’ve been able to avoid having to cut other budget areas.”

Mueller said the project also added to the school’s curb appeal.

“From the street, it really helped an old building look refreshed.”
