Neuse River Trail

This nearly 28-mile trail (which features paved and unpaved surfaces) is popular and for a good reason. It features stunning views, good access points, shady spots, wildlife, drinking water and bathrooms. You can bike as much or as little as you like on this gorgeous stretch, and it’s a good place for serious riders on a long trip or families looking for a short jaunt.

Umstead State Park

While not all of the trails in this park allow bicyclists, Umstead State Park is one of the few that offer mountain biking trails for cyclists to enjoy. The park’s 13-mile multiuse trail used to be a road and there are several access points. It also connects to the Cary and Raleigh greenway systems. It’s a moderately difficult trail, so probably best for experienced cyclists.

American Tobacco Trail

This trail technically isn’t in Raleigh but it’s worth the trip to Durham. With 22 miles of paved and unpaved trail, the American Tobacco Trail winds through Durham, Chatham and Wake counties. It’s a fairly new trail but it’s stunning, with history, wildlife and limited facilities available.

Feazel Inc.

The Feazel Inc. family has been in Raleigh for a while now and we are always happy to discover new places to visit and share. Did you see your favorite place to do some biking in Raleigh mentioned? If not, share it with us!
